From virtual designs to physical model by additive fabrication by Mr Sylvestre Nunès, General Secretary of the AFPR. The technology of additive fabrication, more commonly known as “rapid prototyping”, allows the fast manufacturing of the physical model of a project from its 3D virtual design. The simplification of the use of the fabrication systems by the laying of successive layers, 3D printers and the application of different materials now enable us to build a wide variety of models, from colour models to ones made up of components of different materials.
This conference will present the principles of additive fabrication, the use of 3D data, the major procedures of additive fabrication applied to architectural models and some examples of projects taken from the world of architecture.
Hyper reality: fact or fiction, gimmick or progress, useful or redundant ? by Mr Louis Paillard, Architect. This conference's content is yet to be finalised.

An innovating concept for zoomed-out plans, digitally connecting the creation skills of the architect from his first drawings to giving spontaneous birth to a virtual building plan.
From sketch to the virtual model
by Pierre Leclercq, Architect and Building Engineer, Professor at the University of Liege, Director of the Lucid Group.
Architectural modeling systems give powerful means of building simulation and assessment to designers. These tools know a growing success in architectural studios but can one consider that they really support design? Are they useful during the early design phase?
The innovating concept of augmented sketch brings answers by digitally connecting the architect's freehand sketch to the real time birth of his virtual building model.

The conceptual model of data availability: should ready-made libraries of building products be integrated into 3D software? Participants:
- DELTA Tracing, Dionisios Tsangaropoulos, General Manager
- Autodesk, Laurent Praden, Business Development Architecture
- Reynaers Aluminium NV, Tom De Paepe, Automation Manager
- VisMasters, Randall Stevens, CEO
Software packages of conception and modelling of digital mock-ups have evolved considerably over the past ten years. Progress has been such that some projects or buildings are entirely digitalized in detail and in 3D before they are even built. This evolution towards the all-digital has a positive impact on the conception, the decision-making processes and also reduces rates of errors and therefore has a considerable effect on production costs. In order to make the quality and accuracy of the digital mock-ups even greater, the integration of the suppliers’ components in the form of 3D libraries seems inevitable. Can we now imagine such a convergence towards the all-digital in practice? What are the stakes involved for the industry? Is it truly feasible to coordinate so many actors? Which standard should be chosen? So is the idea of making available 3D libraries offering manufacturer’s catalogues «Myth or Reality»?

3D simulation at the service of major projects
Subject: A conference on the contribution of 3D in the conception of major projects on a national scale (for example China). How can 3D technology benefit the image of a nation? The user must be responsible for a mission such as the Summer Olympic Games (for instance) if he or she is to dissert on the possible influence and power images may have on an international audience before the projects have been realized.
Speakers to participate:
- Valode & Pistre : Emmanuel Tual, CG Superviser.
- ADPi : Dominique Bastard, CG Technology Manager.
- Scott Wilson, UK Paul Wilson, CG Technology Manager.
- AREP
